Nurse- Guided Functional Lab Testing

Understand what your symptoms, metabolism, and lab markers may be telling you.

Personalized lab testing and results review for wellness care

I’m a Registered Nurse in Alberta with 14+ years of clinical experience, a Master’s Degree in Public Health focused on prevention, and additional training in chronic disease management.

My work combines clinical nursing knowledge with evidence-based nutrition, metabolic health, and lifestyle strategy to help clients better understand what may be contributing to symptoms like fatigue, low energy, metabolic concerns, digestive issues, and stalled progress.

Functional lab testing is used to provide deeper insight and create more personalized, practical support plans.

Hi! My name is Mel,
a specialized Nurse Health Coach

Why Functional Lab Testing Matters

Sometimes symptoms show up long before standard testing provides clear answers.

Symptoms like fatigue, stubborn weight changes, digestive issues, and low energy often have underlying causes that are not visible on the surface. Lab testing helps identify imbalances and trends so we can support your health with precision and confidence.

Our approach focuses on using lab data to inform practical, sustainable changes rather than chasing numbers or trends.

Labs We Assess

Lab panels are selected based on your health history, goals, and current concerns. Testing may include:

  • Metabolic and blood sugar markers

  • Cardiovascular risk indicators

  • Thyroid function

  • Nutrient status

  • Inflammatory markers

  • Gut health

  • Hormonal balance where appropriate

All testing is reviewed in the context of your overall health, symptoms, and lifestyle. Testing recommendations are individualized and may include publicly available or specialty functional testing depending on your goals and symptoms

How Functional Lab Testing Works

  • Step 1: Initial Consultation

We begin with a comprehensive intake to understand your health history, goals, and current symptoms. This allows us to determine which labs are most appropriate for you.

  • Step 2: Lab Testing

Testing is completed through accredited laboratories using standard bloodwork, expanded biomarkers or specialty panels when indicated.

  • Step 3: Results Review & Education

Your results are reviewed in detail during a one-on-one session. You’ll learn what each marker means, how it relates to your symptoms, and where support may be needed.

  • Step 4: Personalized Action Plan

Based on your results, we develop clear recommendations that may include nutrition strategies, supplementation guidance, lifestyle changes, or follow-up testing.
